Updating a table in access

The first is to add one record at a time; the second is to add many records at a time.

In both cases, you use the SQL statement INSERT INTO to accomplish the task.

To add many records to a table at one time, use the INSERT INTO statement along with a SELECT statement.

When you are inserting records from another table, each value being inserted must be compatible with the type of field that will be receiving the data.

I like to update an access 2013 table with data from excel. An older similar post is available, but was too old to reply. Since not every customer has sharepoint access we use excel as the medium to request and provide data.

The SPL list itself is the main data source, however for updating and manipulating the list I find Access much easier.

It's a good place to learn the basics, but it has some tricks that can be confusing UPDATE Components INNER JOIN Analysis ON Components.

I tried both the "linked" and "copy into new table" options. I spent a few hours delving in this issue this morning.

You can select multiple tables by holding down the Update Query from the popup menu.

Next, build the query like the one below: This query will update the MFG field in the Bot table with the value in the MFG field in the Big table when the PART values match.

Actually I am trying to update the Bot table MFG with the Big table MFG when Big. In this example, we've selected the Big and Bot tables.

When the Show Table window appears, select the tables that you wish to use in the query and click on the Add button.
